Eileen Appelbaum is a senior economist at the Center for Economic and Policy Research.

Previously, she was an economics professor and research director at the Economic Policy Institute. At Rutgers' Center for Women and Work she helped build the organization with a solid foundation, strong research areas in gender equity and women's workplace advancements and programs that serve women across the range of educational and income spectrums.

Appelbaum has published numerous articles on workforce, employment and labor market issues, and the labor market experiences of women. Her books include Manufacturing Advantage: Why High Performance Work Systems Pay Off and Low-Wage America: How Employers Are Shaping Opportunity in America.

Appelbaum is past president of the Labor and Employment Relations Association.
