Alexander J.S. Colvin is associate professor of labor relations and conflict resolution and chair of the Department of Labor Relations, Law, and History at the Cornell University Industrial and Labor Relations School. He is a member of the Labor and Employment Relations Association.
Colvin's areas of expertise and academic research are arbitration, collective bargaining, conflict resolution, employment law and policy, high-performance work systems, industrial relations systems, labor law, labor relations, mediation, negotiation, Canadian employment and labor relations, grievance procedures, turnover, work motivation and employee-organization alignment.
He is the co-author of An Introduction to Collective Bargaining (with fellow EPRN researchers Harry C. Katz and Thomas A. Kochan).
Colvin received his doctorate from Cornell's School of Industrial and Labor Relations, his master's from the Centre for Industrial Relations at the University of Toronto., where he also received his J.D. and bachelor's degree in physics.
