Charles Whalen is former editor of Perspectives on Work, published by the Labor and Employment Relations Association. He has served as associate economics editor at BusinessWeek, as a faculty member in ILR Extension Division at Cornell University, and the economics department at Hobart and William Smith Colleges. In 1998-99, he taught at Zhongshan University (Guangzhou, China) as a Fulbright Senior Scholar and visiting professor.
His research areas include U.S. economic insecurity, human resources and national economic policy, community-wide labor-management partnerships, and the future of industrial relations as a field of study.
He earned his doctorate in economics from the University of Texas at Austin and undergraduate degree in industrial and labor relations at Cornell.
