Jeff Waddoups received bachelor's and doctoral degrees from the University of Utah in Economics with specializations in labor economics and industrial relations.
In 1989 he joined the economics department at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where he has taught courses in labor economics, macroeconomics, industrial relations and statistics.
His research addresses several topics on labor markets. Most recently he has written on the impact of responsible contractor policies on construction costs. Another stream of recent research addresses how unions and employer size affect wages and training in Australia.
Waddoups' earlier research consists of several articles on the impact of unions and collective bargaining on labor markets in hotels and casinos and on subsidies of low-wage contractors through the use of uncompensated health care at public hospitals.
