Richard N. Block is a professor at the School of Industrial and Labor Relations at Michigan State University. He has been a research associate at the MSU Institute of Public Policy and Social Research since 1991. Block received his doctorate in industrial and labor relations from Cornell University, his bachelor's and master's degrees in economics from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. Block's areas of specialized interest are in international labor standards; labor and employment law; labor union behavior; government-supported employer-specific training; employment and social issues; international labor standards and comparisons between the United States and Canada; and among the U.S., Europe and the European Union. Block has been a visiting scholar at the London School of Economics and Political Science; the Centre for Industrial Relations, University of Toronto; the Graduate School of Business, Columbia University, New York, New York, January, 1984 through June, 1984.
