On July 2-5 in historic Philadelphia the Labor and Employment Relations Association's sister organization, the International Labor and Employment Relations Association, will meet for its World Congress. I can tell you from past experiences, this is the biggest and best gathering of professionals — academics, government leaders, and professionals from all aspects of our field. The theme for this Congress is “Beyond Borders: Governance of Work in a Global Economy.”

I can’t think of a better time or a more appropriate venue to meet and learn from our global counterparts about what is happening in labor and employment relations around the world. Moreover, our responsibility is to both serve as good hosts to our international guests and to help them understand what we are doing to address our job market and employment policy challenges in our country. How to register at the special rate:
The Labor and Employment Relations Association has a special, limited time rate extended to EPRN researchers. Because it is necessary to have everyone in the database system, you will need to use the system but you will pay the registration fee through LERA by faxing billing information. As a result, please follow these three steps:
Step One
- Decide whether you want to sign up for one-day ($225) or for the entire conference ($475).
- If you are signing up for one-day, decide which day. Go to http://www.ilera2012.com/Congress-Program/default.asp and click on “detailed program” to see the schedule. [Note: If you sign up for Tuesday, July 3, you qualify for the opening reception the evening before.]
- Decide if you want to attend the gala congress dinner. There is a one-hour reception followed by dinner (wine at both).This is ticketed event. Be aware that the $125 fee just covers the per person cost.
- Consider whether you will stay overnight in Philadelphia, and if so, whether you want to stay at the Downtown Marriott Hotel where all congress events will be held.
Step Two
- Then go online to http://www.ilera2012.com/Registration/default.asp
- Follow the instructions.
- When you go to register, in the "registration code" box, put ILERA 2012. As a result, you should be charged $0.
- If you want to purchase a dinner ticket, do so at this point. The online system will ask for payment online for the dinner ticket.
- Note your confirmation code (you will need it on the fax form).
- If you want to reserve a room at the Marriott Hotel, you can do so immediately by following the prompt.
